Commercial Professional Support Lawyer

Where to start? Well, I guess it can't hurt that the role doesn't carry a chargeable hours target!

That aside, one of the key selling points of this role is actually the firm itself. As a national practice, the firm has evolved and developed its culture and people as a central priority. The net effect is a group of bright, energetic, supportive and ambitious people who focus on providing great advice delivered in a very down to earth manner.

It is that which makes it a great place to work.

It might have been that a few years back the role of a PSL was seen as a secondary function with little other than legal research and internal training at its core. More and more these roles have developed and are central pillars in the ongoing development, training and growth of teams.

That is certainly how this role is envisaged. It sits within a newer designated team to the main commercial team. It is not to say that training isn't a part of the role, it most definitely is but it provides a means to play a practical role in the changing landscape within firms  in terms of how services are delivered but also in being client facing rather than huddled in a dark corner changing precedents.

An advert rarely provides the means to give due credit to what the role can offer. Ultimately that is for further discussion.

On a more practical level there is a technical requirement in respect of commercial contracts experience so invariably you will need to have a solid foundation in commercial law.

In more general terms, the firm has developed a flexible working culture and this is certainly resonated in this role. Ultimately they want to find a positive and technically strong commercial lawyer. Not one who just wants to sit and draft but one that has ideas and wants to be proactively involved within the team in its development.
