Head of Employment - Junior or Senior Partner appointment - Lancashire

Just a little bit about the firm to set the scene. The firm is a recognised legal 500 firm with a blend of both personal and corporate clients. With a particular strength in commercial litigation and consequent breadth of corporate clients the firm is looking to further grow and develop its employment offering.

The employment team already has a good degree of critical mass but the firm seeks to appoint someone to lead the team moving forward.

The role would combine 3 key aspects, people management (including support and supervision though the team is balanced and so there is good opportunity to delegate responsibility and enable others to progress), strong technical capability (the role still requires someone to be "on the tools" and so you will need to have a solid grounding in contentious and non-contentious commercial employment. Thirdly, business development - you will need to play a role in the external promotion and attraction of new business (but will be fully supported in those endeavours).

In practical terms it is envisaged that someone will have existing roots in Lancashire and real desire to take the lead and establish themselves. Whether that be someone who already works in Lancashire or perhaps someone from a larger city who is looking to make a move away to achieve a better work/life balance.

Does it require a following? No. Obviously if someone has work to bring then that would be welcomed but it is not always expected. That being said, for those with a larger degree of seniority it is more likely that one would need to show a certain degree of success in that regard - irrespective of whether or not any work would follow.

The hope is that for the right person, the skills the firm seek will also represent a means for the individual to achieve their own goals and afford the chance to lead and help grow a team alongside working in a firm with, arguably, a more relaxed and friendly culture.

If you are a employment lawyer, partner, director or sufficiently experienced senior associate and feel that you tick some of the boxes (for them and for you), then send your cv to paulwarburton@thinklegalrecruitment.com for consideration and where appropriate a confidential discussion.
