Corporate Solicitor - 3-5 PQE

Another corporate role I hear you cry! Well, maybe less so in the current climate and perhaps this is the reason it stands out. Though it isn't just the scarcity of roles that set this apart. So, how is the different from the norm.

The truth is the differences are subtle. At its heart it probably stems from the culture of the team and the firm. Whilst the firm itself has a good critical mass and an increasing corporate profile both locally and nationally it still retains a collegiate and warm approach to things. I'm not saying there are hugs on offer at the end of every deal (though you may be able to negotiate that) but rather there is a sense of unity and support - a real team dynamic.

I recognise that will be a plus for some and non-plus for others but it does dictate the feel of going into work.

It is still a corporate role with principal emphasis on mainstream M&A into the lower and mid-cap market so all the expectations that come with that exist here. It has to be said that experience suggests that it isn't quite as all-life consuming as it can be elsewhere and more importantly give where the role sits within the team it affords someone an opportunity to start to make a name for themselves and influence and support junior lawyers whilst working alongside well regarded and busy corporate partners

What they do is reward performance and effort - the firm and corporate team has a track record of progressing their people up the career ladder without hinging that requirement on PQE but rather the ability and aptitude to take on responsibility.

There is a mandate to recruit but the corporate team have struck the right balance around recruiting long before desperation to hire sets in. What it means is that the team have a very clear desire to hire good quality people from the local market. By its nature that can often mean looking at those that have come from a larger national or regional practice but they are as comfortable looking at those from boutique and highly regarded practices with a strong corporate transactional pedigree.

The role sits firmly at around 3-6 years PQE. Ideally someone who has experience to provide that key support direct to partners but also has the ability to work with a certain level of autonomy as their will be scope to lead on smaller transactions.

If you think that sounds of interest and would like to have a discussion around the firm and the role then please send your CV or alternatively contact Paul Warburton for a confidential discussion.
