In-House Compliance Solicitor
In-House Compliance & Risk Solicitor
Without question this is an unusual role so it may prove harder to paint the full picture of what the role entails. Given the make-up of the existing team this role would be based in either Leeds or Manchester.
The role is providing an in-house legal advisory function to an international law firm with a focus on their regulatory risk and compliance. There exists a small team undertaking the same work and so you will be working alongside experienced lawyers. Despite the size of the team the work has incredible scope.
As an international law firm there are any number of regulatory issues that can arise. To name but a few, SRA, FCA, Data Protection, Anti-Money laundering and proceeds of crime to niche areas specific to sensitive information the business may hold pertaining to energy and nuclear regulations. The extent of regulatory aspects is huge but offers a diverse portfolio of work to keep you engaged.
The role itself is in providing advice to lawyers and stakeholders in the business on things such as the regulatory impact on contracts the firm enters into or indeed the impact arising from certain situations that have arisen under existing contracts.
At its heart sits the regulatory commercial advice.
As there is some seniority in the team it is felt that this is likely to suit a lawyer at around 2-5 years PQE. In terms of that persons background, ideally someone with a broad range of regulatory experience or in the alternative someone who has a strong commercial contracts advisory function ideally from within a large commercial law firm as there can often be aspects of an international and cross-jurisdictional nature.
It is a non-fee earning role so you won't have the corresponding fee targets you might expect in private practice.
If you are commercial lawyer or a regulatory lawyer seeking a new challenge then this could be for you.
