Legal Counsel (Commercial) - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover)

This role offers the chance to gain valuable experience in a unique environment, working closely with the General Counsel and contributing to the effective management of contracts and legal documentation.

Salary: circa £75,000 - £80,000 (pro-rata).

Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors, Legal Executives, experienced Paralegals, and candidates with substantial relevant experience operating as legal counsel without a formal qualification. Applications are also open to candidates seeking a part-time opportunity.

About the Role:

As a Legal Professional, you will play a crucial role in supporting the General Counsel and ensuring the smooth operation of legal processes. Your responsibilities will include:

• Contract Management: Leading or assisting with the preparation, review, negotiation, and execution of a variety of commercial contracts (including Industry Contracts, Product Development Agreements, Consultancy Agreements, and NDAs), commensurate with experience. You will also manage the contract repository and oversee the contract signature process.
• General Legal Support: Providing support on company secretarial duties, governance matters, and internal legal processes. You will also contribute to information governance initiatives.
• Administrative Excellence: Maintaining organised records, ensuring confidentiality, and staying up-to-date with legal developments.

About You:

• Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive, or experienced Paralegal, or demonstrable equivalent experience operating as legal counsel without a formal qualification.
• Ideally, previous experience in commercial contract drafting and negotiation.
