Restructuring & Insolvency Associate / Senior Associate – Sheffield (with flexibility for Leeds-based candidates)

A leading national law firm is seeking a talented Restructuring & Insolvency lawyer to join its highly regarded team, based primarily from its modern Sheffield city centre office.


About the Team

The firm's Restructuring & Insolvency practice is one of the most respected in the country, comprising a team of over 30 specialist lawyers and consistently achieving top-tier national rankings. The team acts for a broad and impressive client base including insolvency practitioners, corporates, boards of directors, lenders, investors and business purchasers, advising on the full spectrum of issues that arise from financial distress and pressure.

The practice operates with genuine national reach, handling complex mandates from across the UK whilst maintaining strong roots in the Yorkshire region. Key clients include some of the most prominent advisory firms in the market, including Interpath, BTG, Alvarez & Marsal and BDO.

The Sheffield team is led by a highly experienced Partner who is recognised as both a Recommended Leading Partner in The Legal 500 (2026 edition) and a Leading Individual in Chambers & Partners (2026 edition). His recent work spans high-profile restructurings, trading and pre-pack administrations, and complex corporate insolvency matters — providing any incoming lawyer with excellent quality work and strong mentorship from day one.


About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious lawyer to join a dynamic, friendly and fast-paced team at a pivotal stage of its growth. The firm is open to candidates across a range of experience levels, and applications are welcomed from:

— Associates and Senior Associates with 1–4+ years' PQE in restructuring and insolvency
— Newly qualified solicitors (NQs) with relevant seat experience or a demonstrable passion for this area
— Lawyers looking to retrain from a banking, finance or corporate background who are keen to develop a specialism in restructuring and insolvency

The successful candidate will work alongside the wider national restructuring practice on complex, high-quality mandates including insolvency advisory work, distressed business and asset sales, trading and pre-pack administrations, and finance and security matters.

Given the nature of the work, the ability to work at pace, adapt quickly and prioritise effectively is essential. Clients' interests are always paramount, and the team prides itself on delivering exceptional, commercially focused advice under pressure. Strong communication skills, a collaborative approach and a genuine enthusiasm for this area of law are therefore key attributes the firm is looking for.


Location & Flexibility

The primary base for this role is the firm's impressive, modern Sheffield office, situated in the heart of the city's business district. Candidates based in Leeds are warmly encouraged to apply, with the flexibility to split their time between the Leeds and Sheffield offices.
