Asset Based Lending – Associate – NQ+

Our client, a leading firm with a high-performing Asset Based Lending and Trade Finance team, is seeking a talented NQ or Associate to join their expanding practice. With exciting new mandates, this role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of FTSE 100 and local clients, supporting a variety of asset-based lending transactions.

Based in Leeds or Manchester, this position is part of a national team of experts providing services across the UK and internationally. The successful candidate will collaborate with professionals across multiple locations, contributing to the delivery of transactions, relationship development, and the continued growth of the team.

The Team

Our client’s is widely recognised as having one of the largest and most highly regarded ABL practices in the UK. This specialist team advises on all forms of receivables financing, asset-based lending transactions, syndicated facilities, sponsor-backed deals, cross-border transactions, supply chain finance, and trade financing deals.

With a prestigious client base, including UK clearing banks, US and European financial institutions, challenger banks, funds, and independent lenders, this is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to high-profile transactions in a collaborative and supportive environment.

What to Expect

The role provides a client-facing opportunity, working closely with well-known businesses on high-profile deals. Candidates will:

• Work across offices alongside a specialist team on complex transactions.
• Have the chance to undertake client secondments, further developing their expertise.
• Support a mix of lender and borrower mandates.
• Engage in business development activities, attending networking events and contributing to training sessions.
• Be actively involved in developing marketing strategies and materials.

Required Skills and Experience

• Qualified Solicitor (NQ – 4 PQE) with a strong desire to specialise in Asset Based Lending and Trade Finance.
• Prior experience in Receivables or Structured Finance, General Banking & Finance, or Restructuring is advantageous, though not essential.
• A commercial mindset, with the ability to provide pragmatic and tailored advice.
• Strong client relationship management skills, with a proactive approach to business development.
• A natural curiosity, with a keen interest in understanding clients’ needs to deliver impactful solutions.
