Our client is a highly regarded national law firm with a market-leading banking and finance practice. They are seeking a talented associate to join their banking and finance team in Leeds, as the firm continues to grow its profile and market share across the North.The team operates as a single national unit, offering the best of both worlds — the dynamism and entrepreneurialism of a regional office, underpinned by the structure and support of a well-established national practice. The successful candidate will play a meaningful role in shaping the local team and brand, with excellent prospects for career progression.
The role
The work is varied and spans the full transaction lifecycle, with a focus on leveraged finance, corporate financings, sponsor-led transactions and growth lending/venture debt. Responsibilities will include:- Drafting and negotiating facilities agreements and security documents (LMA and non-LMA form)
- Drafting and negotiating intercreditor arrangements
- Preparing standard form precedent documentation
- Working closely with corporate and restructuring teams
- Advising on in-life portfolio matters including waivers, resets, restatements and bolt-ons
About you
The ideal candidate will have between one and four years' post-qualification experience in leveraged finance, alongside cashflow lending and/or general banking experience gained at a recognised firm. You will be:- Comfortable liaising with lenders, borrowers, intermediaries and investors across the full transaction lifecycle
- Experienced in conditions precedent, security arrangements and credit agreements
- Proactive and client-focused in your approach
- Genuinely enthusiastic about leveraged finance and the broader asset class
