Construction & Engineering Associate (Commercial Contracts/Projects Candidates Considered)  | Leeds | 2+ PQE

A well-regarded national law firm is looking to recruit a Construction & Engineering Associate to join its growing non-contentious team based in Leeds.

The team has built a strong reputation across both the infrastructure and residential development sectors, acting for developers, funders, central and local government, and NHS Trusts. Infrastructure and projects is a key growth area for the team, with a solid public sector client base spanning transport projects (road, rail and buses), flood defence schemes, and NHS developments.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale infrastructure projects — including metro systems, rail lines, hydroelectric plants and motorways — alongside experienced partners, with genuine scope for progression and client relationship development.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include drafting, negotiating and advising on complex construction and engineering contracts (NEC4 and bespoke forms), including framework agreements, call-off contracts, consultant appointments and pre-construction service agreements. You will also attend and lead client meetings, manage your own caseload, supervise paralegals, and contribute to business development activity.

The Candidate

Construction contracts experience is advantageous, but candidates with a background in commercial contracts or projects who are keen to move into infrastructure will be strongly considered. The firm is looking for someone with a strong academic record, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to build relationships at all levels. You should be ambitious, organised, and comfortable working under pressure.
