Construction and Engineering Solicitor/Associate

About this vacancy
The role
Our client, a well-established and highly regarded law firm in the North East, has a Construction, Engineering and Projects Team with a broad and varied spread of interesting and demanding projects. The team acts for clients based in the North East, the UK and overseas, including a range of investors and funders, developers, contractors, consultants and sub-contractors.
So who are they looking for? They're seeking someone with non-contentious construction experience and a minimum of 2 years' PQE, who has a keen interest in business development and developing themselves. The successful candidate should be experienced in dealing with a range of industry form contract documents (such as NEC and JCT), professional appointments and collateral warranties.
Although the role is mainly aimed at someone with non-contentious experience, a blend of contentious and non-contentious experience may also be helpful and would certainly be considered.
The team
The construction and engineering team is a key part of a wider firm of over 200 people, with people based across offices in Newcastle, Cumbria and Teesside.
The firm has a long-standing commitment to agile working, enabling the team to work from wherever is most suitable for them. Modern office facilities complement this flexibility, ensuring people have everything they need to deliver excellent service to clients and each other.
People and values
The firm's people are the foundation of the business, and everything is underpinned by four core values:
- Trust – trusting each other to do the right thing
- Teamwork – working as one team, selflessly, for each other
- Responsibility – being self-starters and taking responsibility for how the team works together and communicates
- Care – caring about people, clients and community
No matter who you speak to, the firm provides the same excellent service from people who do what they say, on time and on budget, every time.
Culture
The firm wants everyone to understand how the business is run and encourages all its people to get involved. It's also proud of the communities in which it lives and works, and gives people many ways to support them — for example, using paid volunteering leave to support a local cause, or nominating causes for a grant from a dedicated community fund.
From workplace running, netball, cycling and walking clubs, to fun employee-engagement events and participation in green initiatives to help make the business as environmentally friendly as possible, this is a unique and award-winning place to work.
In a recent employee survey, 95% of people said they believe this is a great place to work.
So how does that sound? If you're looking to work in a friendly, open environment and want to develop your career in a forward-thinking, commercial North East law firm, this is an excellent opportunity.
