Employment Senior Lawyer / Partner – Newcastle

Senior Associate / Legal Director / Partner level considered

I’m working with a well-established commercial law firm in Newcastle that is looking to strengthen its employment offering with the appointment of a senior employment lawyer.

This is a role that could suit an experienced Senior Associate, Legal Director or Partner, depending on your experience and ambitions.

The role

The existing employment team advises predominantly employer clients across a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.

The work includes:

• Employment Tribunal disputes
• Employment contracts and policies
• Redundancies, restructures and reorganisations
• TUPE
• Settlement agreements
• Disciplinary and grievance matters
• Unfair and constructive dismissal
• Discrimination
• Whistleblowing
• Holiday entitlement and related advisory work

There is a strong emphasis on providing practical, commercially focused advice and building long-term relationships with clients, rather than simply dealing with issues once they arise.

Who are they looking for?

This is deliberately a broad brief.

You could be a Senior Associate looking for the next step, a Legal Director ready to develop your own practice, or an established Partner looking for a new platform.

You should have solid experience across employment law, with a good balance of contentious and non-contentious work. The ability to build strong client relationships and provide pragmatic, commercially minded advice is particularly important.

For someone at Partner level, there is scope to develop and grow your own client following within an established and supportive commercial practice.
