We are acting on behalf of a leading international law firm whose Manchester Employment team has built an outstanding reputation in the market. The practice advises a strong and stable roster of financial services clients, household name corporates, and a market-leading client base in the public and independent health sectors. The opportunity
This is a role for an employment solicitor with around 3 or more years' PQE who is looking to develop their practice within a top-ranked team. You will take on a busy and varied caseload, with a particular emphasis on financial services sector clients. The role spans both contentious and non-contentious work, and offers real scope to develop client relationships, contribute to business development, and play a part in supervising and developing more junior members of the team.
The work
On the contentious side, you will work on complex discrimination, whistleblowing and breach of contract matters in both the Employment Tribunal and High Court, under appropriate supervision. On the non-contentious side, you will assist on restructuring projects — including redundancy and TUPE — across UK and multi-jurisdictional matters. General employment advisory work by telephone and email will also form a regular part of the role.
Beyond fee-earning work, you will be encouraged to take an active role in client seminars, training delivery, networking and business development, as well as contributing to knowledge sharing and internal training within the team.
What we're looking for
- A qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with 3 or more years' PQE in employment law
- Solid experience of Employment Tribunal claims and other contentious employment matters — this is essential
- Experience advising multinational or large commercial clients is a strong advantage
- An independent thinker with strong commercial instincts and a solutions-focused approach
- A confident communicator who can build lasting client relationships and influence at all levels
- An enthusiastic team player with a flexible, proactive attitude
