Legal Director/Partner – Private Client

We are seeking an ambitious Legal Director or Partner-level lawyer to help shape and grow this practice, offering exceptional autonomy, leadership opportunity and rewards.

The Opportunity

This is a rare chance to lead and expand a Private Client team within a prestigious firm. You will have the freedom to design and drive strategy, build your own team, and deepen relationships with high-net-worth clients. You will work closely with an experienced regional management team, backed by national private client resources and expertise. The role comes with significant autonomy, enabling you to shape the direction of the practice and deliver high-value legal solutions.

Key Responsibilities

-Provide leadership and strategic direction to a Private Client practice in the North East.
-Cultivate and manage relationships with high-net-worth individuals, family offices and trustees.
-Deliver expert advice on complex wills, trusts, tax planning, estates and succession matters.
-Build and mentor a team of private client lawyers and support staff, ensuring professional growth and excellence.
-Collaborate with other regional and national teams to leverage the firm’s broader resources.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a senior Private Client specialist (Legal Director, Senior Associate or Partner) with strong leadership potential and an established client network. 

You should have:
-Extensive experience: A proven track record in high-net-worth and complex estate planning, trusts, tax or elder law.
-Leadership skills: Demonstrated experience leading teams or projects, with the ability to inspire and develop colleagues.
-Regional connections: A robust network of contacts in the North East Private Client market, including professional advisers, accountancy firms and referral sources.
-Commercial acumen: Strong business development skills, with a history of winning and growing high-value instructions.
-Initiative and drive: The motivation and entrepreneurial spirit to shape a growing practice and collaborate within a supportive management environment.
